The following information is provided to assist Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice adjunct faculty in developing courses and utilizing the resources offered by Portland State University. The information here is based on the Division's Adjunct Faculty Handbook (Word file), a 20-page manual that you may find very helpful.

Office of Human Resources

Once you have received a letter of offer from the Division, you will need to visit the Office of Human Resources and fill out the Employee Information Form, I-9, W-4, and a Direct Deposit Authorization (if you choose to have direct deposit of your paycheck).  Information about this process and the forms of identification you will need can be found on the New Employee Information page.

Ordering Texts

Textbook orders for your courses are placed online through the Portland State Bookstore Requisition Form . The department code is CCJ (AJ). If you need assistance with any of the other fields, please contact the Division.

Deadlines for submission are

  • Fall Term - May 15
  • Winter Term - October 15
  • Spring Term - January 15
  • Summer Term - April 15
    • While these deadlines may seem extremely early, they allow the Bookstore to assess the coming term's needs before book buy-back begins, thus reducing text costs for students.

Computer Account Creation

Once you have completed your Human Resources paperwork, you may obtain an "Odin" account, which provides you with PSU e-mail address, disk space, and other computing resources. You can begin the process by going to the account creation page.

WebMail

The web interface for PSU e-mail accounts is webmail.pdx.edu.

BANWEB - PSU Information System

BANWEB is the PSU information system: it gives you access to class rosters and student information; it is also the system used for entering grades. A web grading guide (PDF) is available to assist you with this process.

WebCT - Online Courses

WebCT is the system used at PSU for online and partially online courses.

Library

The Branford Price Millar Library offers various services for faculty; including course reserves. The library catalog is called Vikat.

Audio Visual Services

Audio Visual Services can provide overhead projectors, TVs and VCRs, and computer technology.

Student Conduct Code

The Student Conduct Code sets community standards for behavior at PSU. It is administered by the Office of Student Affairs. Other policies and codes, and a student conduct complaint form, can be found on their site.

Transportation and Parking

Transportation and parking offers transit passes and parking permits. Please be aware that parking on campus can be extremely difficult. Note: If you need to arrange parking for a guest speaker, please contact the Division.
