At the risk of generalization, the faculty of the Hatfield School are "practical academics". They are well-credentialed and actively involved in research and the advancement of public policy and the management of public enterprises. But the primary role of Hatfield School faculty is to teach; to renew the skills and knowledge of current public professionals and to prepare next-generation managers and leaders for the challenges of establishing policy and achieving results in the public arena.

Tenured and adjunct faculty bring to the classroom extensive practical experience from the world of public and international affairs. Their teaching infuses coursework with new ideas, leading theory, and practical insight into current issues in public life and the policy arena. Hatfield faculty also play a strong and influential role in placement and career counseling.
