Under the direction of Prof. Birol Yesilada, HSG is in charge of completing the World Values Survey in Cyprus for the next wave of the study.
We are talking with Cukurova University for an agreement for a joint undergraduate degrees between PSU and CU. The pilot programs will include Political Science and Business Administration. Students will take PSU dsignated courses in Turkey and transfer to Portland State during their last two years of work. If approved, this program will start in September 2005.
Police Officers from the Turkish Interior Ministry will start arriving at the Hatfield School of Government to pursue Masters and Doctoral degrees in Criminal Justice and Criminology in Fall 2005. The Turkish government currently sends fully funded students to 10 other universities in the US and decided to include HSG in this program.
NATRI sponsored a watershed management workshop for the Southeastern Anatolian Project in Turkey. Currently we have a memorandum of understanding for future porject cooperation with the Administration of GAP (Southeastern Anatolian Project).
Prof. Yesilada, Director of NATRI, is co-director of PSU's Peace Initiative in Cyprus along with Professor Harry Anastasiou of the Conflict Resolution & International Studies programs of PSU. This initiative is partially funded by the Cyprus Fulbright Office and sponsors bicommunal projects aimed at confidence building between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
