The Somali Bantu Project was established to assist in resettling to the United States this persecuted minority group whose members are ethnically and culturally distinct from the dominant-clan Somalis. For nearly two centuries, the Bantu have been subjugated or considered outcasts in Somalia. Most Bantu never integrated into the dominant Somali clan structure. Approximately 50 cities in 33 states have been identified as potential Bantu resettlement locations. The project will assist support organizations in those locations as well as reunification efforts for Somali Bantu who have been forced into other countries from Italy to Yemen.
