In his inaugural address more than 40 years ago, President Kennedy proclamation that the, "torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans..." served as a clarion call to many who proudly chose the public service for their career. Today, that generation is beginning to retire. Once again, the torch is about to pass to a new generation of public leaders and managers. The opportunities are big and the work is important for those who are ready.
The Hatfield School recognizes that tomorrow’s managers and leaders must be prepared for a public service that is leaner, faster, more innovative, and results-oriented. We look for students with the brains, heart, and desire to make a difference.
Most students come to the Hatfield School seeking a degree, but increasingly, we are reaching practitioners through our continuing education programs. Some may want to earn a certificate in a specialty area; others want to refresh their skills. Many are working professionals. Most complete their coursework in residence, but more and more do their courses online.
Our students historically have come largely from the Pacific Northwest and West Coast. Increasingly they come from across the nation and around the world.
Whether you are looking to get started in your public service career or to keep going, the Hatfield School has the programs, people and perspective to help you out.
